Build a winter route around actual consumption, battery temperature and usable charging stops. Specific i8 and L9 manuals explain the examples; the checklist does not promise a winter range.
Start with the exact vehicle and manual
Record the model year, trim, battery and software build before planning. The battery guidance used here comes from the i8 W022026MAX 2026 manual; the energy-mode example comes from the L9 2025 Ultra manual. These are defined references, not operating instructions for every L6, L7, L8, L9, i6, i8 or MEGA. Find the manual matching the actual vehicle before using a setting.
Treat the displayed range as an estimate
The i8 reference explains that temperature, road conditions, driving speed and electrical loads influence range. Heating, passengers and the route therefore belong in the trip plan alongside the displayed kilometres. Watch how recent consumption develops on your actual journey. Do not turn a laboratory range or somebody else’s winter result into a guaranteed distance, and do not apply a fixed percentage reduction to all seven models.
Plan usable stops and an alternative
Before leaving, check the next charging location, access hours, payment method and compatibility with the actual charging inlet and equipment. Keep another reachable stop in the plan rather than relying on one advertised charger. Allow for diversions, queues and weather delays when deciding when to stop. Reassess the route if consumption rises; a destination name on a map does not prove that charging will work.
Leave time for temperature and the final charging stage
A cold or hot battery can charge more slowly, according to the i8 manual, and the final charging stage takes longer at a high state of charge. The same reference suggests charging after use while the battery is warmer. Use that as an i8 planning reference, not an unverified preheating procedure for another vehicle. Build time around the conditions encountered, not a headline peak charging figure.
For an L-series vehicle, plan fuel as well as charging
The L9 2025 Ultra manual states that a cold battery or limited battery discharge capability can start the range extender even in electric-priority mode. Selecting that mode therefore does not promise a silent, engine-off winter trip. Confirm the energy modes and conditions in the exact L-series manual, and plan suitable fuel stops. Do not copy another model’s battery thresholds, forced-generation targets or menu sequence.
Review the plan during the journey
At each safe stop, compare the next leg with the current estimate and the charging options still available. If conditions deteriorate, stop earlier or choose a shorter leg instead of chasing the original schedule. Keep notes on observed consumption, temperature and charging sessions for your next trip. This is an owner planning checklist; it does not establish overseas charging access, warranty support or a guaranteed arrival range.
